The thirst for anomalous content from TV executives and viewers alike never really seems quenched. History’s latest investigative series “The Proof Is Out There”, which debuts Jan. 5, is another analysis series of unexplained viral videos. With episodes clocking in at 22-minutes run time, History’s latest show is an easily digestible, concise offering that doesn’t require much background knowledge to enjoy.

The format centers around veteran TV journalist Tony Harris introducing cases before having experts weigh in, and coming to a verdict on the case presented. The segments are brief and to the point, which allows for more content per episode.

“These videos, photos and sounds are literally coming in from around the world,” Harris said in a news release. “ I love that in every episode, I get to be the viewer and ask: What the heck is that? And then I get to put our team to work to answer that question.”

The debut episode features two different UFO cases, a mysterious mammal corpse that washed up on a South Carolina shore, and peculiar face formations in clouds. The show will feature some familiar experts like Dr. Diana Pasulka, and editor of thedebrief.org MJ Banias.

“I think the show does a very good job of getting experts to comment on the videos.,” Banias said. “While shows in the past try to ‘amp up’ the strange, ‘Proof ‘calls out the fakes.”

“The Proof Is Out There” is History’s educational answer to viral video shows like “Ridiculousness” and “Tosh.O.”
