In a time when the UFO community is hyper-focused on military-based sightings, “On The Trail Of UFOs: Dark Sky '' showcases the citizen eyewitness testimonies that the origins of UAP sightings are based on. Like the other Small Town Monster films, “On The Trail Of UFOs: Dark Sky '' once again makes the small towns that are featured just as important as the phenomena being investigated.
Seth Breedlove, and Shannon Legro continue the storied Small Town Monsters legacy of giving the every-day a chance to tell their extraordinary stories. West Virginia and the hills of Appalachia are long a hot spot for paranormal occurrences in the sky and on the ground. The film looks at the UFO history of that area that includes lights in the sky, UFO flaps, the Flatwoods Monster case, the adjacent UFO wave to the Flatwoods case, Mothman, mysterious mines and energy sources, Men In Black, and “creature” sightings in neighboring Ohio. One of the stories includes an interesting encounter with Indrid Cold; a long-time mysterious entity that has appeared during many UFO sightings, and an alleged tie-in to another UFO/ human encounter from Wright Patterson Air Force base.
The cases presented in the film are all intriguing in their own right without the film overhyping any “bombshells.”There’s some compelling evidence (photo) and testimonials about a sighting located by an observatory that was oddly installed by the government post-Flatwoods Monster that may be the film’s best spotlight.
“On The Trail Of UFOs: Dark Sky '' is another informative, grounded documentary that brings the witness stories to the forefront.
